A Spectre in the Mansion, 2022. Saddle stitch stapled zine with digital illustrations.

Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I always get a little depressed when November rolls around. I tried to stave this off in 2022 by making a series of gothic illustrations depicting ghosts and haunted houses.

The houses are meant to be reminiscent of the Winchester Mystery House– meandering Victorian houses with just a few too many doors and windows for the structure to make any sense. The skeletal figures are influenced in part by ghostly apparitions in horror movies but also by urban legends of hauntings. I love to listen to paranormal podcasts when I work and many will tell stories of “the woman in white” or red, or black, who haunts a location, so I decided to keep my characters in this color scheme.
